Upward Sports is the world’s largest Christian sports league for children. The first-class sports program provides a fun sports experience based on healthy competition for kids, teaching skills for the sports arena and values for life. Today, more than a half million children in 46 states and four countries participate in Upward Sports leagues hosted by 2,600 churches. Upward Soccer uses the 4v4 format, greatly increasing player participation. Upward’s team drafting and substitution systems ensure evenly matched teams and equal playing time for every child. Weekly practices include drills designed to improve specific skills and strategies, and scrimmaging to provide actual game experience.
Upward Soccer is for children in kindergarten – 6th grade and will be held at Bethel Park, 1762 Center Groton Rd. in Ledyard, CT. Weekly practices will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning the week of August 25th and games will be held on Saturday mornings beginning September 12th. The program will conclude with an Awards Celebration on Saturday, October 31st.
Early registration cost per child is $75 on or before August 2nd and $90 after. To register online, check out the brochure and the online registration at the bottom of this page. Deadline for registration is August 1st. Need-based scholarships are available, and children of deployed military members play for free! Big family? Receive a $10 discount per child for your 2nd thru 10th child. If you’re new to the area and/or you just heard about Upward and the registration deadline has passed, contact us and we’ll do our best to get your child on the field.
Every child is required to attend one evaluation. Bring your child to Bethel Park on either Saturday, June 27th or Saturday, July 25th between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. We’ll have some fun drills that will evaluate your child’s skills (cleats recommended) – should only take about 20 minutes. We’ll also size them for a uniform. Bring a friend! If they sign up, you receive a $10 registration discount and $5 in Upward Cash (redeemable at the Concession Stand.)
In addition to the provided jersey, shorts, and socks, each player is required to have soccer cleats (shoes) and shin guards. (If you have good condition used cleats or shin guards that you don’t need, please bring them with you for someone else to use!) Players are encouraged to purchase a soccer ball; size 3 for grades K-2 and size 4 for grades 3-6.
